Painted prayers in stone and skin
Atelier1111 is born from an intimate dialogue with classical statuary. The studio extracts gestures and silences from antiquity, then reincarnates them on canvas — mineral colours, diaphanous skin, an inhabited realism where the sacred grazes the everyday.
Practice
Where the divine grazes the everyday
Each work begins with patient observation — of a marble fragment, a fresco fold, a Roman face partially erased by time. The first layer is always the slowest, building the architecture of the figure in muted earth tones.
Materials
Pigments and living statues
Oil on raw linen. Thin glazes in stone, sand and ivory tones — layer upon layer until the flesh begins to release itself from the rock, as though the figures were slowly stepping down from their pedestals to meet us.
